Nice write-up on Ettin farming, this is definitely a good way for anyone to make to
some $$, I have shown several people how to do this, I am sure there gold deposit is
shining now!!!

I wanted to add, on the second map(Ascalon settlement), when you are almost at the
end of the run, turn north and head toward the beach, round the corner to the right,
there is a road going down to the beach here, but the little area right here at the top
ALWAYS has 2 or 3 more ettins that come from out of this field.

This is absolutly true, and granted the semi-sketchy spawns in the north kryta province, having a solid, everytime spawn is nice, only some people don't like the extra running

lol, must be my lucky day. Got ALOT of purple drops, and also alot gold ones. After about 10 runs, I got 1 Superior Vigor, 1 Superior Healing, and 1 Superior Blood Magic.

add a Major Vigor to that.

you can do the ettin farm at lvl 15 as long as you have droknar armor.

i used :
mending
bonetti's defence
cyclone axe
dolyak signet
executioner's strike
healing breeze
healing signet
disrupting chop

basicly i just aggro'd groups of 3 and got my adrenaline up ASAP
i waited for the ettin to use healing sig and interrupted it with disrupting chop

low on health : healing breeze or healing sig

low on energy : dolyak signet + bonettis

this goes fast if you have a max dmg axe, even if it's a clean one

there are better attack skills but at that time my warrior had been nowhere near desert or even shiverpeaks besides droknar.

haha man this is great its gonna get nulled soon tho.. by nulled i mean used by way to many people, i did 2 runs 2 gold hides and 1 purp!! ty alot ur great man ive seen ur running builds and such aslo they are great

is there any axe hit or mod that causes bleeding if there is it will stop ettins very fast because of there endure pain and healin sig. if u had them bleeding there skills wouldnt help them alot??

none that CAUSE bleeding.. but barbed lengthens bleeding duration...i think

could you farm em with a lvl 15 w/me with droks with some of the w/me builds i see earlier in the thread?(really too lazy to get ascended and change profs.)

Shouldn't be a problem at all. I farmed them at level 15 with my W/Mo

I first tried this a couple of days ago and was getting gold pauldrons and purple, nothing special, tried it tonight and i was getting nothing but every time i killed the last ettin in asaclon settlement i got a purple pauldron. I was just wondering, when i tried this the first time, i had favour, but tonight i didnt have favour, i was just wondering if this is related or is it just being over farmed??

lots of great advice in here!!

a few notes to add....

-You all are taking the long way. I know you want to hit the beetletun ettins but if you head out from LA and cut through Giant's Basin, you'll be right in the mid point of the farming run in about 5 minutes. Where the trail on the map below ends is where you come into the area.

-This path above misses a bunch more ettins. Keep going up that path towards the shoreline, there's more up there and the next zone to boot. My apologies if you do this and just took the pic earlier.

-Ele can farm there, ranger can farm there. Both easily, I have done it.

-The ettins are in subgroups. They are independant of each other, you can separate them and only fight part of the group if you choose. Warrior doesn't need to use this tactics, but a squishy will.

-the anti-farming code is mysterious, but you'll need to farm through the zone way more then 3 times before you see drop rates/loot value reduced. I think the randomness of drops effects it more because your judging them in a short time frame, a run or an hour.

Yes, i was jsut about to post this the LA run is alot faster and easier than this one also do not try the bergen way if u cant take 10 hexes through 2 mins. full running through avirica dont try from bergen... LA is the safest and easiest way, it is longer but sprint helps u

I do start from Bergen, but I don't run through Tengu. I loop around by the skales and come out at Statue of Dwayna area. Then just run in and hit them. After I kill all the ettins, I go out through Scoundrel then straight back in and go backwards. I have some pretty bad luck with drops though. I did 4 runs today (Settlement>>>Scoundrel>>>Settlement>>Nebo) and got about 12 purple, 2 gold, and 4 white. No good drops though.

The LA way takes you to them in 5 minutes yes, but going out through beetletun gets you fighting through ettins only for a long time to get there, and that map is just to get you into ettins in that zone

not to where every one is! I really appreciate your imput though.

I usually start my run from the Gates of Kryta. Yea there is a quite a few Mergoyles and Mergoyle Wavebreakers and they slow me down a little but I still find it kind of easier to start from. I guess it all depends what you like personally.

ok ive tried this about 10 times at first i was dyin then i found the axe build i liked. then once i made it to the ettins and did about 4 runs i found at most 5 purple none of them anything special am i doing something wrong or just bad luck i start at hot springs and run north then zone and redo. please someone help

Its just luck my friend, just like farming anywhere else, sometimes you get realy lucky sometimes you don't, keep goin!

got another ettin build:

Axe - 12+4
Strength - 9+1
Tactics - 9+1

Eviscerate
Penetrating
Disrupting
Frenzy
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet
"For Great Justice!"
Sprint

use dolyak signet + FGJ + Frenzy, hit eviscerate, pen, disrupt their heal sig, and 3 ettins go down per FGJ shout

its intense :P
